About Bachelor of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (BHMCT)

Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology is a four-year undergraduate vocational program which provides professional training to students for the hospitality and new inventions in catering technology.

The main aim of the four-year course is to make students familiar with management techniques, processes, and methods used in hotel and hospitality businesses. The key areas of BHMCT are accounts, desktop, administration, front office, housekeeping, catering, maintenance, security, and catering. With India being one of the major hubs in the hotel management industry, there’s no dearth of jobs and employment opportunities in this sector as it is the second biggest employer across the country after IT and software industry.

BHMCT is divided into eight semesters which involves skill set and extensive knowledge necessary for jobs in the hospitality industry and train students who wish to open their own catering businesses.

Bachelor of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (BHMCT) Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum Qualification Required: 10+2/Class or equivalent examination from a recognized board/university.
  • Minimum Marks Required: 45% aggregate marks (40% for reserved category candidates). This can be varies from college to college.
  • Age Limit: Age Limit for the BHMCT program varies from college to college, for most of thr colleges, the age limit is up to 22 years.

BHMCT Admission Process

Admission to the BHMCT course is provided on the basis of entrance exams. The national-level entrance exam conducted for BHMCT admissions is NCHMCT JEE (National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology Joint Entrance Exam). The NCHMCT JEE or NCHM JEE is mainly conducted for admission to the IHMs. The score of NCHM JEE is also accepted for admission by many other colleges. Some colleges also offer direct admission to candidates on the basis of Class 12th merit.
